The unique education model specialises in educating Aboriginal children from the town camps, and outstations of Alice Springs providing community led, accessible, relevant, captivating, and inspiring education.
Classes are structured in year levels and language groups. Each class is supported by a Western trained teacher and Aboriginal and non–Aboriginal Assistant Teachers.
Students are immersed in language throughout the day and taught in both English and language with a designated learning on country day each week.
The Happy Heart Hub is a unique program that supports Yiprinya students and is run by the Inclusion & Wellbeing Team.
Yipirinya School also has a School Wide Positive Behaviour Program which is vital for learning two-ways.
Families and caregivers are recognised as important partners in each child’s education.
At Yipirinya these relationships are valued, built and strengthened as we know that strong relationships create a sense of belonging and safety.
Read more about how we nurture these relationships through our Family Liaison Team.
The school is registered as an independent non-government school and is governed by a School Council.
We acknowledge and pay respect to the founders of Yipirinya School and the important work that they, and those who have followed them, have done in keeping language and culture strong since 1978.
